We have had the HQ refurbished. We were put in touch with the 52nd Engineers Regiment, who were needing to update their training on all trades before going off to Kenya last September to do some building work out there. They came and put a new roof on the HQ, refurbished the toilet area with a new suite etc. On first inspection of the building it was found that one corner had pushed out and needed serious work before the roof could be renewed. So the whole building has been rewired. We also had a new ceiling in the main hall, and it was painted throughout. We have now been able, with the help of our various and very welcome grants, to have the back side window double glazed. New flooring is next on the agenda, for which we are delighted to say, we still have funds.
So whilst the old sign was in a very poor state the Captain suggested that while they did the work for the local people out in Kenya, they would see if they could get us a new sign carved, which as you will see from our photos, they have done with great success. We are absolutely delighted.
We received various grants before any of this was able to be started. Although the Army actually did the work for nothing, we did have to take out a very costly insurance to cover them whilst the work was in progress.
